Citi Taiwan has been the leading foreign bank with a strong presence in Taiwan since 1964, taking the lead in both corporate & investment banking and consumer banking with the following milestones.

• To expand our footprint in Taiwan, Citibank Taiwan Limited (CTL) was established to acquire Bank of Overseas Chinese in 2007, and by 2009 CTL completed the relevant business integrations. 
• Incorporated in 2007, Citigroup Global Markets Taiwan Securities (CGMTS) is a wholly owned subsidiary that provides the group’s global institutional clients with financial market services via different business segments in equity, debt, and advisory.
• In line with Citi’s global strategy refresh, Citi Taiwan in August 2023 completed the transfer of its Consumer Banking Business to DBS Taiwan.

In the wake of Consumer Banking Business divesture in Taiwan, Citi remains committed to the Corporate & Institutional Banking Business in the Taiwan market, leveraging Citi’s global network in 95 markets to support a Taiwan client base of 800+ international enterprises, 1,600+ small and medium enterprises, and 100+ top domestic enterprises and financial institutions.

Citi Taiwan is composed of three interconnected businesses, i.e., Banking, Services, and Markets.

Banking consists of three lines of business

• Investment Bank meets clients’ capital raising needs and provides merger and acquisition and equity and debt capital markets-related strategic financing solutions. 
• Corporate Bank serves as the conduit of Citi’s full product suite to clients. 
• Commercial Bank helps mid-sized companies address the challenges of rapid growth and international expansion.

Services is made up of two lines of business 

• Treasury & Trade Solutions (TTS) provides an integrated suite of innovative and tailored cash management and trade finance services to multinational corporations, financial institutions and public sector organizations.
• Securities Services provides cross-border support for clients with extensive on-the-ground local market expertise, innovative post-trade technologies, customized data solutions and a wide range of securities services solutions that can be tailored to meet clients’ needs.

Markets provides customized solutions that support the diverse investment and transaction strategies of corporations, governments, investors and intermediaries.

Since 2010, Citi has raised over US$13 billion in capital markets for Taiwan corporates and has local assets under custody of US$466 billion as of April 2023, ranking first with 28% market share.

Citi is also actively supporting Taiwanese corporates on their sustainability transition by offering sustainability-linked products, educating clients on ESG, setting sustainability KPIs, and measuring ESG performance. Citi offers sustainable suppliers the opportunity to boost liquidity and accelerate cash flow by discounting approved client receivables at preferred rates.

Regarding corporate social responsibility, Citi Taiwan has invested around NT$72 million in skills building initiatives in Taiwan through “Pathways of Progress”, bringing together non-profit partners, social enterprises, clients, and the public sector.
