Recognizing Taiwan’s long-term growth potential, Barings established a local presence in 1990 with the opening of Barings SICE (Taiwan) Limited in Taipei, offering investors access to a range of international investment funds. In 2013, we expanded with a second office in Kaohsiung. To further strengthen our commitment to Taiwan market, Baring SICE obtained regulatory approval for Discretionary Investment Management business in 2016 and began partnering with leading life insurance companies in 2017 to manage Multi-Asset discretionary portfolios for investment-linked life insurance policyholders.

In July 2025, Barings obtained approval to operate in the Kaohsiung Asset Management (Pilot) Zone, securing a business license to offer Non-Securities Investment Trust Funds (Non-SIT Funds) and serve as an External Asset Manager for high-net-worth clients through licensed banks within the pilot zone.

Looking ahead, we aim to support the "High-Net-Worth Wealth Management" initiative proposed by the Financial Supervisory Commission, collaborating with major banks and introducing a diverse array of private funds to help advance Taiwan's objective of becoming an Asia Pacific asset management center and to achieve the next milestone.
